Developing teams is not a one-size fits all.  There are some fundamental steps to get started:

1. Identify the team – Identifying the team might seem obvious, but a group of people reporting into a manager is not necessarily a team!

 


2. Help the team identify what they currently do well and  what is working – these are strengths the team can leverage.  This is also about identifying the team’s agency to self-develop.

 

3. Identify the ‘vital few’ business tasks they need to do together.  Team development is contextualized within a business outcome.  The purpose for the team.
